Hey, everyone! Longtime lurker in this amazing community.
Wanted to share my recent experience with StubHub as a cautionary tale for other incredible Broadway fans--
Almost a month ago, I attempted to purchase two tickets to Six (!) using my phone. After entering my credit card information and clicking "purchase," I got an error message saying something along the lines of "those are tickets sold fast, another fan already purchased them, they are no longer available." At this point, the show was already starting and there were no other tickets available, so we didn't go.
The next day, I found an email from Stubhub saying that the purchase did indeed go through for almost $400, along with the unclaimed tickets. At no point throughout the payment process did it say the tickets were successfully purchased (in fact, it said the opposite, as shared above).
So I called Stubhub (attempt #1- 2 hour hold time). The agent told me she would have to escalate the situation, and assured me that a manager would call me back within 1-2 business days.
I never received this call.
In the meantime, I sent an email to [customerservice@stubhub.com](mailto:customerserve@stubhub.com) describing my situation. I found this email address on the website.
This email was never answered.
I called Stubhub again later that week (attempt #2- 1.5 hour hold time). I retold the story to this agent (they found no records of my original call.) They were able to escalate the situation to the technology department, during a brief hold while I was still on the line. They notified me that the full refund was approved by the technology department, sent me a confirmation email, and informed me that I would be refunded in 8-10 business days.
Fourteen business days later, I still never received a refund.
So I called StubHub again, this past Saturday, (attempt #3- 2 hour hold time). I reexplained my story and asked for the refund status. The agent told me that he could not escalate the situation while I was on hold (although I knew this was possible, as the previous agent had done this). He sent me another confirmation email stating that my $400 refund was on its way. He told me that a supervisor would reach out to me within 1 - 2 days. I explained my hesitancy for a call back, as the last time I was assured a call back, it was never received. He repeatedly promised I would hear back within 1-2 days.
I never received this call.
Tuesday, I called Stubhub again (attempt #4- 2 hour hold time). Eventually, I had to attend an appointment, so I "clicked 1 to hold my place in line and receive a call back."
I never received this call back.
Wednesday, I called Stubhub again (attempt #5- 2.5 hour hold time). I explained the situation. I was told that I would be connected to a manager. He told me that the manager "is on the line and would give me a call in one to two minutes." I asked him, if it was this short of a wait, to please hold on the line with me until she called to ensure I would not be misled again. Apparently, waiting one minute was too long on his end of the phone, despite my 2.5 hour hold, and told me "I need to get back to the queue line." I told him to please wait, he reconnected with his manager, and 15 minutes later, I finally received a call from the manager.
The manager shared several very troubling details:
1. The email [customerservice@stubhub.com](mailto:customerservice@stubhub.com) was no longer being checked, so the fact that this is still online for customers to use as a means of contact is blasphemous. DO NOT USE THIS EMAIL.

  1. "The main delay was technology approving," which I know to be false, since technology approved the full refund during my second call, proved further by my confirmation email that the refund would be issued in 8-10 days.
  2. The maximum that anyone could be credited on Stubhub, for any circumstance, was $100. This, despite over 10 hours on hold for a refund I was promised time and time again. This, despite total lack of follow through from Stubhub, time and time again, despite blatant lies that "I will definitely be called back within 1-2 days." Despite wasting time crafting an email to address that is not even utilized, that countless other Stubhub customers are surely using too.
  3. I asked to talk to the manager's supervisor, but her supervisor "doesn't speak to customers" and that the only way to escalate the situation further would be to write an email or send a letter to corporate, wasting even more of my time explaining a story in words that I have already reiterated countless times. (This post is a copy of that email.)
After emailing [yourfeedbackmatters@stubhub.com](mailto:yourfeedbackmatters@stubhub.com) (this email works!), I received a call from another manager, who finally helped process the refund, along with a $200 credit, almost a month later, after over ten hours on hold, multiple blatant lies from Stubhub agents, a complete lack of follow up on multiple occasions, a "customer service" email advertised that is completely out of order, and the need to explain it all again, for the sixth time, in a written email, to get any real support.
While I wish I could say this was probably just an isolated experience, because of the consistency and chronicity of StubHub's "customer service" lies and blunders, I fear it is not. I hope some of you could take story this as a word of caution before using StubHub's services.
TLDR; It took one month, six calls, over 10 hours on hold, a message to an advertised but out-of-order customer service email address, consistent lies, and complete lack of follow up to receive a promised refund for StubHub's technology error. Avoid StubHub if you can!
