2021.12.03 09:40 booktrovert My hoarder has no concept of storage space
TL:DR: Hoarder is trying to hoard my house from 1000 miles away, one Christmas ornament at a time.
Every year I buy my kids a new Christmas ornament. I started this when they were babies so that when they move out they have a complete set of ornaments for their Christmas tree (I had none when I first moved out because what I was permitted to take from the hoard was very limited). Another family member is a skilled craftsman and makes them an ornament every year. Also fine. My hoarder buys ornaments and sends them. Also fine, in theory, except it's always a huge amount of ornaments. I do one a year because I want it to be sentimental and representative of my child in that year. For example, my youngest is finally to the point where they are a really into Harry Potter, so they got their first HP ornament this year. Craftsman family member also goes sentimental route, for example making my oldest a violin. When you look at their ornaments it's like a snapshot of their lives from that year and I love it.
Yesterday the box from hoarder arrived. Sometimes I feel bad being angry about it, but it was stuffed full of ornaments. I will say they are all new, and it's sweet that they try. But it's always more. They show their love through stuff. Six ornaments per kid plus three each for me about spouse is overkill. This has happened for the past few years so I finally texted my hoarder and thanked them, told them the ornaments were lovely, and I do appreciate them thinking of my children. Then I tactfully asked that in the future they just choose one each so we won't run out of storage space for ornaments in the future.
Hoarder is upset now. "Why can't you just get a bigger box for storing ornaments?" Because storage space in our home is limited. We don't have a lot of attic space for storing things. We have to be careful about our storage space. "Why can't you just put them in a box and shove them in a closet?" All of our closets are full of things we need on a day to day basis, and I don't want to start shoving them full of stuff. Opening a closet door and having stuff fall out stresses me out. "Why can't you just put them in a spare room? The kids don't need separate rooms. It would be good for them to have to share a room and then you would have a room to store stuff." My kids deserve their own space if that's something we can provide for them, and in this house we can. I would rather give that space to them than stuff. "Why can't you just rent a storage unit for overflow like we do?" Because we have a house that has adequate storage to fit our needs. I don't want to just stockpile stuff to have stuff. It needs to have a meaning or it needs to not be in my house. "Well, we don't know the kids very well, so I don't know what they like, so I buy a lot to make sure there's something that they like." It's sweet that you want to buy them something that they like. You don't know them well because you don't make the effort to contact them outside of holidays, and when you remember their birthdays. You're always welcome to ask me for ideas and I would be happy to steer you in the direction of something they would like.
So now hoarder is upset. I am accused of being the Grinch, Scrooge, and ruining Christmas for asking them to scale back on Christmas ornaments. It's funny that I moved so far away to escape the hoard and now it's just being sent to me, bit by bit. I guess from now on I just let them pick the one they like and donate the rest.

This sub seems to never let me down for recommendations so let’s try again.
I’m looking for everyone’s opinion on the best XC sunglasses for all conditions, Sun, shade etc. preferably a pair that doesn’t fog up and has good durability. Unfortunately I’m not near any stores that stock many sunglasses so I have to order.

Have had a cheap cat on the car for two years now. Lately I've been noticing more pops and crackles from the exhaust, like it used to when it was decat. Likely to be a sign of impending cat failure? No CEL yet for it, but a bit of a funky smell at start up

2021.12.03 09:40 NewbW22 What was it that made you a Wizards fan??
I asked this question in the WFT sub and got a ton of interesting responses.
So what was it that made you a fan of Wiz / Bullets?
For me, I was born and raised in SW Virginia. Games were always on local sports channels. Despite DC being like 5 hours away, Washington area sports were always my home town team. I grew up watching every game with Chris Webber and Juwan Howard. Then we moved into the Arenas era and I was solidified.
Even in adulthood, I’ve moved to several cities that have their own NBA franchises - but I never lose sight of those days as a 7 year old watching Howard and Webber light it up!
Tl;dr—grew up in Virginia watching the Wiz.

2021.12.03 09:40 Jackstraw1 Lost in the shuffle of yesterday's news...how about the new mode and map coming?
" Alongside the launch of a major new update for Battlefield 2042, EA has spoken a bit about what's next for the game. That includes the launch of a new map and specialist, which will hit next year, as well as time-limited 64-player modes for PC and new-gen consoles.
Following the third update that launches today, a new patch is planned to arrive for Battlefield 2042 later in December. But it's next year that will bring with it a slate of new content, including a map called Exposure. While we didn't get any specific details about its setting or what it will involve, EA tells GameSpot that it will be something special by saying it "tak[es] map design to a whole new level." Just what that means is anyone's guess at this point."
Gotta say I'm pretty keen on trying out the 64 player version on the large maps. I'm thinking they're probably being done in portal but I'd like to play the official version.
Really excited for the start of season one!
